With the Don Q Reserva de la Familia, something very special was created for the 150th anniversary. Bottled in elegant glass decanters, the amber Don Q presents itself like a diamond with a sparkling shine. The long contact with the oak wood is responsible for the beautiful color and the very elegant taste.
In the nose an assemblage of vanilla and oak, surrounded by sweetness.
On the palate, notes of light honey, apricots, vanilla, roasted aromas, tannins and a delicate sweetness to taste.
The Rum is in a wonderful, classy Woodbox with a leather bound booklet and a beautiful glass closure.Juan Eugenio Serrallés Colón was the heir of a sugar plantation in Ponce, Puerto Rico. In 1865 he imported a distillery bought in France and began to burn rum. Based on the most popular novel character of classical Spanish literature, Don Quixote, he gave his rum the name Don Q. The rum became extremely popular on the smallest island in the Greater Antilles - the family business began to grow. Juan Serrallés died in 1921 - the year rum production stopped due to prohibition in the United States.
In 1994, the Serrallés family had an idea: to celebrate the 150th anniversary, something very special and unique was to be created.
36 barrels of American white oak, richly toasted and filled with fresh distillate. After 20 years, the best barrels were chosen and married together in a barrel. After that they were allowed to rest together for a few more months.
The result is a unique rum - the Reserva de la Familia Serrallés!
The rum is delivered in a wonderful, noble wooden box with a booklet bound in leather and a nice glass closure, which can be used after opening.
Not even 100 bottles have reached Europe - in Germany there are only very few copies of this rum rarity. -
